ECW IS BACK......again.

Now admittedly I have not watched Impact Wrestling aside from a few clips on YouTube here and there since they changed networks for the 1,000th time. That said the other day while watching wrestling stuff on "the tube", I came across a video from a recent episode of Impact of a six man tag featuring Moose and two other dude against Rob Van Dam, Sabu, & Tommy Dreamer. Intrigued I hit the link or whatever. What I saw was three broken down dudes in their 50's go over younger full time roster members. Look, I'm all for nostalgia in pro wrestling but come on!

Now I don't know the storyline that brought these dudes back to Impact but, I do know bad booking when I see it. For all intents and purposes RVD looked pretty good and Dreamer still wrestles enough to make you forget that he was brought in for this angle. Sabu on the other hand....GODDAMN!!!! The dude is a shell of his former self. Noticeably older, slower, a bit heavier, but still trying to do the spots he was doing 20-25 years ago. It was almost like watching The Sheik trying to do Sabu's gimmick. Everything he did looked like it caused him tremendous pain. In no way am I trying to shit on Sabu, I just think it might be time for him to hang it up before he ends up paralyzed or worse.

The match itself was your typical hardcore free for all with weapons and the ECW guys hitting their spots as to be expected. It's just that with no knowledge of the actual storyline of why these guys are there and feuding with Moose & company it makes absolutely no sense why they would win. I'm all for these guys showing up every so often for a nostalgic pop, but THEY SHOULD BE PUTTING OVER THE YOUNGER GUYS WHO ACTUALLY WORK FOR THE F'N COMPANY!!!!!! Jesus fucking Christ! Would Paul Heyman have brought in a bunch of broken down veterans to go over his established talent? Probably not. I mean he did bring in Terry Funk, but that was one guy.

This is part of the many reasons that Impact/TNA has failed to really become a viable alternative to the machine that is WWE.

I also watched a clip of The Sandman returning to essentially pass the torch (Singapore Cane) so to speak to Eddie Edwards. Unless they bring him back to tag with Eddie, this was done right in my opinion. Bringing in The Sandman to "mentor" Eddie is a great way to use him while putting over Eddie. Hopefully that's the idea.

So once again for everything that Impact does right, they do something else to fuck it up.

ECW IS BACK......again.
